Your grade depends on it!

Students please keep in mind that as a physical education student you start with 100% or an A+!!!!  It is your job to keep it.  Please keep in mind that this doesn't mean that because you are a great athlete that you will get an A or A+ in PE.  Students in PE are not graded on their ABILITY but rather their PULSE.

The Physical Education teachers at Thomas Jefferson expect that all students change into their PE uniform, participate to their highest potential and be a good sport and classmate to their peers.

Here are some examples of things we like to see/hear:

1.  Tennis shoes/athletic shorts or pants and their TJ gym shirt.

2.  Appropriate behavior and voice level in hallway, locker rooms and gymnasium.

3.  Students being responsible and saving important locker and class information on chromebooks.

4.  Students following directions the first time given.

5.  Students remaining in their "spots/seats" throughout warm ups and instructions.

6.  Using good listening skills throughout class.

7.  Participating to the fullest potential on a daily basis.

8.  Trying to be better than you were when you started.

9.  Helping others succeed.

10.  Using good sportsmanship, such as nice job, good try, etc!!!!

11.  RESPECT your peers, adults and equipment.

12.  Helping maintain a safe and fun environment

etc.....

Please remember your grade is reflected upon these things.  As physical educators our goal is to get all students active through the use of sports/games and fitness activities hoping you all can find some sort of physical activity that you can enjoy throughout your lifetime.  You may not like them all, however, we expect you to make the best of them and enjoy your time in PE.  PE is an experience in which you have the opportunity to explore activities you may not normally get to participate in, not a free for all in which you do want you want!  In physical education we not only want you to enjoy being active, but, we also want you to learn useful problem solving, cooperation and other life skills that will help you be successful in the real world.  Leading a physically active lifestyle will not only help you feel and look better but it will give you the energy you need to be successful in whatever endeavors you choose in life.
