Greetings!

My Background

     My name is Mr. Welzien.  I grew up in West Bend where I attended West Bend West High School.  After graduation, I attended the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point, where I majored in physical education, minored in health education and also played on the mens soccer team.  I completed my masters degree through the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse in Education-Professional Development.  This is my 15th year as a Physical/Health educator at Thomas Jefferson Middle School.  In addition to teaching, I coach the 7th grade boys "A" basketball team, 7th and 8th grade track as well as the boys  JV soccer team at Port Washington High School.

My family

     I have been happily married to my beautiful wife Jenna (who loves exercising and reality t.v.!) for eight years.  We are the proud parents of a soon to be 15 year old daughter (Samantha), who loves hanging our with her friends, a soon to be 9 year old son (Maddex), who loves baseball, soccer and bothering his older sister.  As a family we currently reside in West Bend.

My hobbies

     In my spare time (which is very limited!) I enjoy duck, deer and turkey hunting, fishing, golfing, being competitive in all team sports, spending time with family and exercising.  In July 2011 my wife and I completed Tough Mudder Wisconsin and followed that up by traveling abroad to complete Tough Mudder Scotland in July 2012.  As a parent I also have the luxury of watching both my children practice and compete in their favorite sports.  Sam loves gymnastics and softball while Maddex is hooked on soccer and baseball.
